The Royale Treatment

Although Royale on Wilshire opened in late 2007, it has since evolved into a staple for both I-know-I'm-in-the-know urbanites and yuppie just-gotoutta-work-but-still-look-hot professionals.

Built adjacent to a historic hotel-come-apartment building, Royale recaptures the Mid-Wilshire district's glory days of the 1920s.  Separated by a sparkling outdoor lounge, the Wilshire Royale is one part sophisticated restaurant with approachable menu, and one part chic cocktail lounge.

Walking into Royale, the first thing I noticed a man pointing at us with a gun.  This was not a real man, mind you, but rather an amazing photograph the size of the main wall.  There are two main lounges on the first floor with plush seating, the bar and a dance floor.  Follow the winding staircase to the loft and there is a pool table and yet another cushy lounge with a very cool, babes-in-the-woods type of vibe.

The Royale on Wilshire is the perfect place to impress your cynical East Coast friend who has lived here for years but still likes to whine about the lack of culture and class in LA nightlife. Or, if you're looking to seduce your cute coworker, check out Royale's Happy Hour Remixed, Monday through Friday 5-8pm, where the $5 martini's flow like water and the DJ spins like its Saturday night!
